super secret xmas list for chris

Ok. All of these items are what Chris wants:

For his bicycle wheels:
fixed gear hubs

spokes

27' rims (1" - 1 1'4")
tape (the kind that goes in between the rim and the wheel)
tubes
tires

Drive set for bicycle:
14 tooth sprocket (fixed gear): if hub is a flip-flop, then 14 and 15 tooth sprocket)
Lock ring
Chain

Brake-set for bicycle:
side pull brakes, short cable

Accessories:
reflector kit
lights
handle bar tape

I will be updating this more as I talk to the bike mechanic we go to and get names and brand names for all this mumbo jumbo stuff. BUT, if you really don't know what to get Chris, let me know and I can give you more names of bicycle stuff.
Chris is making his own fixed gear bike (a bike with only one gear and rides really great in the cities) and he is SUPER excited about this project. But money and time keep slowing him down and anything that would help him out in this project would be an awesome xmas present for him. Email me if you wanna know more.

Love,
michelle

Smartest girl in the room...

I hate to brag, you know. People usually have to pull it out of me. (Note: sarcasm). But this time, I am going to tell everybody this: I made a 99 on my last test. Yup. You read it right. A 99. And it was the hardest test yet. And I missed three class days.

Yup, basically, you know the smartest girl in the room. Now, let's hope I don't get cocky and slack off. I won't.

Cool!

My best friend, Ginny, her brother animated this cartoon for a very cool artist named Sufjan Stevens (his first name is pronounced Sufi-yan). It will be in the Christmas song box set. Watch it, tell your friends.

Also, Hi. How is it going? I just took a huge test that I think I did okay on. I know I missed several questions, but I am trying not to freak out about. Cool.

Oy vey!

Pepsi introduces new snacks, drinks at Whole Foods
11/13/2006 4:49 PM
By: Associated Press

PepsiCo is introducing new products through stores of Austin-based Whole Foods Market.

New York-based PepsiCo is targeting the type of consumer who shops at the growing natural and organic foods seller.

PepsiCo now sells a line of chips and has started market tests of a smoothie drink at certain Whole Foods locations. Neither makes any mention of PepsiCo on the labels.

The company declined to say whether other PepsiCo products were being sold through Whole Foods or whether additional ones were planned.

Grrr...

But I guess I shouldn't really be surprised. After all, Odwalla is owned by Coca-cola and Seeds of CHange is owned by like Heinz or something.

Nothing stays the same forever.

I've changed my major...

So the evolution of my career building goes as follows:
Theatre
Journalism
English
Social work

And now...announcing my major-of-the-month-let's-hope-it-sticks-so-I-can-graduate...
Botany!

Yes, that's right folks. I have decided to go ahead and merge my love of all things plant-like (excluding poison ivy) and my love for wine and get my Botany degree with a horticulture and chemistry minor. After that, the plans are to get my Masters in Viticulture and Oenology, the growing, study, making (and drinking) of wine.

So, maybe in ten years, if all my wishes are granted, you may come and visit Chris and me on a vineyard...in Italy...

Wish me luck!

updated xmas list

Yes, it's early. But I am about to start on making most of my gifts, so I decided I should start a list as well. Also, cash flow is a little tight this year, so we won't be able to do a lot of presents. On that note, please don't feel like you have to get us something from this list. This list is just merely a guide for your benefit. Thank you.

Here it is, drumroll please (updated 11/8/06):

nothing, love and being with loved ones is good enough

dress socks (the sock monster got some of Chris' good dress socks)

a storage building, not a big one, about 6x6 or something like that

a digital camera!! (I think my parents are working on this one)

a mexican plum tree (our tiny one died in the heat)

a very nice helmet for Chris (his doesn't fit him, he has a big head, you probably know this)

any kind of cooking pots or pans by Le Creuset (they have Outlet stores for better prices) or any kind of cast iron pots or pans in good condition.

any vegan, vegetarian, or decent cookbook that doesn't have a lot of meat recipes. Also bread/baking cookbooks.

a dog bed for Brandy, I think she might use it now

gift certificate to an Autobody shop (Chris is rebuilding a bike and needs to buy paint for it)

And that is all for now, an update soon to come!
